The East Neuk is the string of old fishing villages along the south-east corner of Fife: Elie and Earlsferry, St Monans, Pittenweem, Anstruther, Cellardyke and Crail. In winter the harbours are calm, the beaches are almost empty, and the coastal path between the villages makes for bracing walks between Christmas and New Year.
Stay in a home of your own and spend the festive season your way: a long lunch at a village pub, a walk on the sand, then back to the fire for the evening.

Choose a harbour-front apartment, a cottage on a village street or a larger house with room for the whole family. Festive weeks are popular, and some homes have a minimum stay over Christmas and New Year. The dates and prices you see when you search are live.
Know your dates? See every home that’s free over Christmas, 23–28 December or New Year, 29 December–2 January.
A Short Stay Family gift voucher makes a thoughtful Christmas present: a break in the East Neuk or St Andrews for someone to look forward to in the new year.
Many are, but festive weeks book up early and some homes have a minimum stay. The dates and prices you see when you search our homes are live, and our reservations team can help at reservations@shortstay.family.
Elie and Earlsferry for long sandy beaches and a pub on the bay; Anstruther for the busiest harbour and the most places to eat; Crail, Pittenweem and St Monans for quiet streets and harbour walks. The Fife Coastal Path links them all.
Yes, some of our homes welcome dogs. See our dog-friendly homes.
Around 15 to 30 minutes by car from most of the villages, so it is easy to visit for Christmas shopping or the St Andrew’s Day celebrations.
Yes, book as early as you can. Village pubs and restaurants are small and fill up quickly over the festive period, and opening hours often change.
